Non-material culture the ideas created by members of a society (art, zen) Material culture the physical things created by members of a society (armchairs, zippers) Culture shapes not only what we do but what we think and feel. Culture shock personal disorientation when experiencing an unfamiliar way of life. No particular way of life is natural to humanity.
