Leaving the savior mentality behind. michigan daily: alternative spring break, students are becoming more aware of the savior mentality and try to leave it behind. Privilege: students have the privilege of stepping in and out of a powerless position, realizing there is an imbalance of power and experience. The role of the community will be more significant compared to the service you"re providing: our liberation depends on them and their power to fight against the oppression and helping hands that have been imposed upon them. They know that they"re not saving a community. Especially for the individual doing the service-learning. This is the idea of having humility, because the community has no obligation to allow one in.
