Politics: ways that rules for society are set and administered. All of social life regulated by govt. World politics: politics of all issues that cross national borders. Issues of world politics: security: all issues where violence or the threat of violence looms (also sometimes called conflict) An organization or person that attempts to affect world politics, and they have preferences. Sometimes disagree and use their capabilities (tools) to make others do what they want. Must consider what all will do so strategic interaction (actors choices depends on what others will do) is central. Actors can be states, groups, or people. Non state actors include intergovernmental orgs (igos) like un, as well as ngos that include amnesty int and al qaeda. Actors that consist of more than one person are called corporate actors. They have purposes that help them function and limit what they can do. All may not agree on actors role (i. e. state in economy)
