Customers equate a casual appearance with a casual attitude. You"re doing more than fixing someone"s computer. It technicians get a lot of leeway compared to most starting jobs, making dishonesty tempting. One of the biggest temptations is lying to your boss. Ex: a new tech driving in a van all day may may find it convenient to stretch the truth about how long their lunch break was. Being honest with your customers is a lot harder- don"t sell people goods and services they don"t need. You should treat anything said to you and anything you see as a personal confidence; not to be repeated to customers, co-workers, or bosses. Unless it"s a felony or an imminent physical danger, you didn"t see nothin" .
