Document Summary

Akinetopsia a disorder in which the individual"s perception of motion is disrupted. Similar to how we perceive the movement of the hour hand on a clock. For humans, vision is the most dominant of the five senses. More areas of the brain are devoted to vision compared to other senses. Trust is usually placed on vision if conflicting information is sent from other senses. (i. e. ventriloquism) The process of light reflecting off other objects launches the process of visual perception. Lens helps focus light to sharpen images cast onto the retina, surrounded by a band of muscle that allow for visual adjustments. Muscle band tightens, and the lens bulges to focus on objects nearby. Muscle band relaxes, and the lens returns to a flatter shape to focus on objects far away. Retina the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eyeball.
