Scientific study of behavior and the mind. Emotions come about due to physiological changes: psychologists can read minds, intriguing challenges. Produced by many factors should be skeptical of single explanations of behavior. People differ from each other and cannot come up with 1 size fits all solution. We all effect each other"s behavior and influence each other. Hard to reduce confounding variables ( variables not being studied but change the result of the study) Psychology- set of methods used to collect info about phenomena in a particular area of interest and build a reliable base of knowledge about them. Science- intellectual process aimed at understanding the natural universe through inquiry. Theory vs. hypothesis: theory- explanation for a large number of findings in the natural world. They would be testable and shown to be fake if untrue. Ties multiple findings together into a package. One of the highest of certainties in scientific knowledge (only thing higher is a law)
