Erikson"s theory of psychosocial development= how individuals understand behaviors of self and others. 1: trust v mistrust= infants develop this, based on needs met by caregivers. 2: autonomy v shame and doubt= 18 months to 3 years (independence v restriction) 3: initiative v guilt= 3-6 years, related to action. 4: industry v inferiority= 6-12 years, competence in meeting challenges. 5: identity v identity confusion= teens determine uniqueness.
