Gender studies: research into understanding who we are as men and women; research into the cultural construction of masculinity and femininity across cultures as flexible, complex, and historically and culturally constructed categories. Sex: observable physical differences between male and female, especially biological expressions related to human reproduction. Gender: the expectations of thought and behavior that each culture assigns to people of different sexes. Sexual dimorphism: differ physically in primary sexual characteristics as well as in secondary sexual characteristics (hair distribution, pitch of voice, etc. : female and male bodies are much more similar than different. Cultural construction of gender the ways humans learn to behave as a man or woman and to recognize behaviors as masculine or feminine within their cultural context: e. g. sports, even at a young age.
