Natural selection favors primate behaviors that enhance survival and reproduction. One male, multifemale: one male and several mature female and offspring. One female, multimale: one female and several mature males and offspring. Rare but some new world monkeys live in this society. Multimale, multifemale: many females and many males and offspring. One male, one female: adult male and female with offspring. Solitary: individuals that only interact for sexual activity. Altruistic: behavior that benefits others while being a disadvantage to the individual. Kin selection: altruistic behaviors that increase the donor"s inclusive fitness that is the fitness of the donor"s relatives. A primate will act altruistically when living with relatives. Cooperation among primates have many advantages like living in social groups and having protection from predators. Only mother primates are responsible for looking for food for themselves and their offspring.
