• The Passionate Shepherd to his love by Christopher Marlow
o This poem about a shepherd who is requesting his love to come and live with
him.
o It is a Pastoral poem- country side living, simplicity of life
o Madrigals- beat of nearby waterfall
o Posies- bunch of flowers
o He is trying to attract her with materialistic items that he cannot afford.
o The title the word his shows that he is making a claim.
• The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd by Sir Walter Raleigh
o This poem is reply to The Passionate Shepherd to his Love.
o Philomel- Greek word/ allusion, nightingales no longer singing
o The Nymph states that shepherd has a sweet tongue but a heart of bitterness.
o The promises he made will soon be forgotten.
o Everything he says will not be as pleasing in winter.
o At the end of the poem Nph’s states ut if he gies her log lastig loe ad

criticzing what he promised.

• Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault (CFT 16)
o Village girl- Does not have to worry about losing her virginity because she is a
country girl. (Adding little sexuality)
o Red color represents passion, danger, and violence.
o Neighbor Wolf- Someone who she knows.
o The author shows pity for the wolf because he had eaten nothing for last three
days.
o Hunger is lead as sexuality.
o Fear- draws in the character of Little Red Riding hood
o Little Red Riding Hood cannot tell difference between the wolf and her
grandmother, hih represets that her deelopet of id ould’t
distinguish.
o Moral- It is directed especially towards young girls. Maybe that shows the belief
system of the society he belongs from.
• Little Red Cap by Brothers Grimm (CFT 18)
o Dear little girl- represented much more young and innocent.
o The mother has a bigger role in the story.
o The story is focused on obedience which makes it modernized.
