Document Summary
Week 4 reading notes -- chapter 5 (memory) Transform sensory data into a form of mental representation. Pull out or use information stored in memory. Recall: you produce a fact, a word, or other item from memory. Recognition: select or otherwise identify an item as being one that you have been exposed to previously. Harder to remember the english meaning of a french word, than to decide whether or not a given english meaning is correct for a corresponding french word. Implicit memory: use information from memory, but are not consciously aware of it. Priming is the facilitation of your ability to utilize missing information. If you have seen the word implicit, you be more likely to fill in the word. Implicit when given the blanks: imp_ _ _ _ _ . Procedural memory is also part of implicit memory. Ex: driving a car, riding a bike.
