Through career and technical education (cte) students are provided opportunities for career awareness and preparation. This is accomplished by providing them with academic and technical knowledge, along with work-related skills that are necessary to succeed. Blueprint for transforming career and technical education , there are four core principles discussed and a proposal on how each can transform cte. The four core principles are focused on effective alignment, strong collaboration, meaningful accountability, and increased emphasis on innovation. Investment in cte programs and in this transformation process are critical to our future. Students need to be better prepared for postsecondary education, training, and employment. By aligning cte and the needs of the labor market needs students can be better prepared with the skills needed for in-demand jobs in high- growth industry sectors. Through collaborations amongst secondary and post-secondary institutions, employers, and industry partners the quality of cte programs can be increased.
