The hierarchical placement of the sexes that gives women unequal opportunities, resources, and power; gender inequality exists in most parts of the world even though the gender roles differ. Gender maintains cohesion and helps society maintain order as it defines the roles of men and women. Men are, in many institutions, the dominant gender in politics, society, economics, etc Women have always been paid less than men across all races; if women were paid equal to men, poverty would decrease drastically. Gender is something we create; not something that were naturally are. We learn from society how to act/behave based on our gender.
