Belief: students learn through discussion, argumentation debate > deeper understanding, deep learning, conceptual change. Collaborative learning can use technology with it when learning teams partly or exclusively communicate with each other online. Effective learning teams: those that want to achieve deep learning and conceptual change together. How team effectiveness determined: quality of team outcomes, quality of team"s performance, perceived satisfaction of needs of individual team members. Team effectiveness also depends on factors like: team formation, team members" abilities/characteristics, role assignment within a team, decision making strategies, team leadership, interdependency, commitment towards team and task.
