Only okay if other sample methods are not available: purposive/judgmental sampling. Get widest variety of ppl to test applicability of q"s. Data from a few members in target population. Ask if those individuals can refer other ppl of same population. Primarily used for exploratory purposes: quota sampling. Starts w/ matrix/table of characteristics of target population. Member of group, willing to talk about the group. To give good descriptions, the sample from the population need the same variations which exist in the population. Sample quality having same characteristics as the population. A sample will have representativeness if all others in the population had same chance of being chosen. Each member has same chance of being selected. Unit which population is composed of , and which is selected. (ex people or types of people) Aggregation of elements that the sample is selected from.
