Document Summary

Through classical conditioning, we learn that stimuli are related: classical conditioning: a type of learned response in which a neutral object comes to elicit a response when it is associated with a stimulus that already produces a response. Ex: salivation produced by food: neutral stimulus: can be anything that one can hear or see, but must not be associated w the unconditional response. Ex: in this experiment a metronome the neutral stimulus (another could be the ringing of a bell: conditioned stimulus (cs): a stimulus that produces a response only after learning has taken place. Ex: salivating whenever the metronome ticks: conditioned response is usually weaker than the unconditioned response, metronome sound produces less saliva than the food does. Something that prompts a reaction only after learning has occurred. Response that is learned reaction that is elicited only after learning has occurred.
