Social isolation is just as bad as obesity or smoking: finding food, fending off enemies. Four main species that have become ultrasocial form societies in which large numbers of individuals divide labor and cooperate for mutual benefit: hymenoptera (ants, bees, and wasps, termites, naked mole rats, humans. Humans account for most of the world"s living mass. Social psychology: the study of the causes and consequences of sociality. Animals must find resources (food, water, shelter) Resources are scarce in order to limit population increase. Behavior with the purpose of harming another. Used by almost every animal on the planet: to get the resources they need. Frustration aggression hypothesis: animals aggress when their desires are frustrated: ex. Studies show that aggression is strongly correlated with the presence of the hormone testosterone.
