Carl jung believed there are either introverts or extraverts. Introverts tend to be alone a lot and prefer solitary activities: extraverts tend to seek others for their activities and stress, types distinct and discontinuous categories of people. Trait theorists believed that people occupy many points on varying dimensions. These traits are seen as quantitative rather than qualitative. Nomothetic view: the belief that traits exist in the same way in every person, allows people to be compared, people are unique based on the combination of traits. Idiographic view: holds that traits are individualized and that no two people can possess the same trait, ca(cid:374)"t (cid:272)o(cid:373)pare people. A key tool: factor analysis: personality can be reflected in infinite ways.
