The idea that certain actions are natural while others are unnatural . Four basic intrinsic goods according to aquinas"s version of nlt: human life, human procreation, human knowledge, human sociability. Nlt: an action is right if and only if in performing the action one does not directly violated any of the basic values. Killing a human being is morally wrong. Interfering with the good of knowledge by distorting the truth or lying is morally wrong. Nlt prohibits actions that directly violate one or more of the basic goods, which would bring about evil. Doctrine of double effect: concerns cases in which performing an action would have at least one good effect and one bad effect. One must address questions about the proper interpretation of the four basic human goods.
