Benefits of visual aid: reasons to use them. Clarify difficult points or descriptions of complex objects. Effective visual aids gain and maintain audience attention. Example: you cant just show a picture of instrument sometimes you have to bring it in to play it. Sometimes you are the object, like demonstrate a dance move. Substitute things that you cant bring in for obvious reasons (size, availability, etc. ) Example for cpr: do not use a real person to push down forcefully on. Bar graphs: compare and contrast two or more items over time. Pie graph: proportion or percentage for each part of a whole. When geography is central to you speech or a key point. Make a point, clarify a concept, draw attention. Don"t bring a dog to class just show a photo. Drawing can be useful if you are good. Chalkboard and whiteboard: all dinosaurs are not extinct. When time and resources do not permit the use of more sophisticated media.
