Within a few years, movies were being made for the middle class, and the industry expanded to become a popular mode of family entertainment: after world war i, movies mirrored the new ways of life. Conservative people were alarmed at portrayals of alcohol use, easy money, fast cars, and loose morals. Extensive efforts to control movies arose: between 1930 and 1960, the great golden age of movies dawned and then declined. Making a film involves a wide range of professionals and craft workers. At various times different members of the filmmaking team have tended to dominate in shaping films.
