The consumer must be involved in creating the experience. Tourism is a way of solving many economic problems. Wealth redistribution: takes from those with disposable income, distributes it to lower income countries, lower income individuals. In north america, tourism is everywhere, but relatively insignificant. In developing countries, tourism is smaller in scale but have a huge impact on the nation"s economy. Employment in canada: provides employment, but does not address income inequality (because often low paying jobs in tourisms industry) Seasonality is huge in terms of defining the tourism sector: easier to sell sun and sand, tend to have longer seasons, those who do not, have shorter seasons. He talked about fargo as a shitty tourist place. Cancun targets college students: both singles and groups.
