Title vii of the civil rights act of 1964- it is illegal for employers with 15 or more employees to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Protected categories- race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Prohibited activities: disparate treatment-to prove a disparate treatment case, the plaintiff must show that she was treated less favorably than others because of her sex, race, color, religion, or national origin. The burden of proof is on the plaintiff: to prove the plaintiff must: Belong to a protected category under vii. The action occurred under conditions giving rise to an inference of discrimination.
