Oedipus complex- a freidan notion explaining how a young boy comes to identify with his father. Adolescence- the period of life between the ages of approximately 12-19 years, often a tumultuous, self-identify seeking stage of life. Outward signs of puberty normally unfold between the ages of 11-16 for boys and 8-16 for girls. Precious puberty- very rarely will puberty begin earlier. Delayed puberty- later onset of puberty, but these are both are exceptions and may indicate a medical condition requiring treatment. Pituitary gland- in the brain starts puberty when the gland is stimulated releasing hormones. Gonadotropin- a hormone released by the pituitary gland that signals the testes to release testosterone and the ovaries to release estrogen.
