Do you know what rights are protected in the fourth amendment: movies such as the hunger games predict a future with people under complete surveillance. Surveillance and transparency: types: social-political, celebrity, consumer, self, scientific, & info searches, surveillance poses danger to our rights/civil liberties. Surveillance and 9/11: patriot act caused citizens to waive most of their 4th amendment rights, 4th amendment right to be secure against unreasonable searches and seizures and the right to see the warrant. The third party doctrine and digital privacy: third party doctrine the government can access (without a warrant/telling you) any info you provide on a media technology. Sotomayor fights that the 4th amendment does not say that future technologies do not apply to the amendment: supreme court voted that it is unconstitutional for law enforcement to search phones w/o a warrant. It"s the 21st century on our calendars, but it"s 1984 in our culture: george orwell"s 1984 shows that surveillance = power/control.
