Document Summary

The helium contains the renal nerves, blood vessels, lymphatics, and ureters. The kidney is protected by 3 layers of ct. renal fascia, perirenal fat capsule, and fibrous capsule. Renal fascia- binds the kidney and associated organs to the abdominal wall. Perirenal fat capsule- layer of fat tissue cushions the kidney and holds it in place. Fibrous capsule- encloses the kidney like a cellophane wrapper anchored at the hilum, and protects it from trauma and infection. This would be the inner layer of the outside of the kidney. Kidneys are suspended by collagen fibers from the fibrous capsule through the fat to the renal fascia. The kidneys receive 1. 2 liters of blood per minute or 21% of the cardiac output. More for the purpose of waste removal than to meet the metabolic demands of the kidney tissue. Each kidney is supplied by a renal artery arising from the aorta.
