Percep = result of complex processes that we aren"t aware of. Perceptual process = seq of processes tht work together to determine our exp & reaction to stim. Stim exists both in environment and in person"s body. Env stim = all things in env that we can potentially perceive. Attended stim = what we put our attention on in the environment. Receptors capture image of thing that eye focuses on (aka. Transduction - transformation of one form of energy to another form of energy; energy from env transformed into electrical energy. Transmission electric signals activate other neurons and eventually transmitted to brain: signal not transmitted to brain = no perception. Processing interactions b/w neurons (neural processing: signal that reaches brain represents orig stim but usually diff from original sig. Experience and action perceiving, recognizing, acting on objects. Perception conscious sensory experience: continuously changing process.
