The national debt is growing every day, in 2014 it was 17 trillion dollars: public policy is the laws that regulate the american economy, social issues, and political participation. In the arena of public policy, we determine who gets what, when, and how, with what result. Democracy and the american constitutional system: democracy is rule by the people (alternate definition self government"). Citizens will hold some political authority and develop the means to govern themselves: majority rule is the way the people rule themselves, the majority advances, at a time, democracy meant mob rule. Mob rule was dangerous because there was no liberty, therefore no order. Democracy in the american constitutional system (cont. : a direct democracy is when the people govern themselves, and have the say in the political, social, and economic decisions that influence the country. The differences between liberals and conservatives rest in how they approach issues, and aspects that are the most important versus not as important.
