In 1833, the american anti-slavery society was formed, which later created the abolitionist movement. They held rallies, distributed pamphlets, and collected signatures on petitions to persuade the abolition of slavery. In 1848, the women"s suffrage movement was officially launched at seneca falls. In the 19th century, american industrialization led to the business community beginning to strengthen its efforts to influence policy.
