Argument - a group of statements in which the conclusion is claimed to follow from the premise(s) Statement - a sentence that is either true or false. Premise - the information intended to provide support for a conclusion. Conclusion - the statement that is claimed to follow from the premises of an argument; the main point of an argument. Logic - the study of reasoning, and the evaluation of arguments. Declarative sentence - declares, asserts, claims, or affirms that something is the case. Truth values - every statement is either true or false; these two possibilities are called truth values. Proposition - the information content imparted by a statement, or its meaning. We do not need to know the truth value of a proposition to recognize that it must either be true or false. Inference - a term used by logicians to refer to the reasoning process that is expressed by an argument.
