(2 pt. ) Psychology : scholar lana lebozec, communication expert david engstrom, what are the key claims discussed in the chapter? (6 pts. ) Chapter 2 describes and identifies the four main building blocks of intercultural communications, which are power, context, communication, and culture. The chapter defines intercultural communication as a process model and maintains that it occurs where cultural factors affect the communication process. Accordingly, the chapter views culture as a set of shared, learned perceptions and values that involves emotions and is expressed as behaviors that are heterogeneous and dynamic. That said, the chapter identifies communication as a symbolic process and emphasizes that once the idea or words have been explained with symbols, it converts to be a message and the meaning is therefore negotiated and shared. Besides, this chapter contends that communication is receiver-oriented, may be unintentional, and dynamic.
