After reading my some of my classmates" responses and interpretations of the text, i have a better understanding of two things. The first being, why the lord wanted to kiss gawain. Upon first reading, i was confused as to why a man wanted to kiss a man. Erica helped me to understand that it goes deeper than that. The lord wanted to ensure that gawain was being truthful and loyal basically saying, anything you do with my wife you should be able to do with me . The second aspect of the story i understand better now is the parallel between the green. I did not think he acted like a priest after my initial reading of the story. My classmate, james, made me realize that he forgives gawain of his sins, as a priest would.
