After reading just the first few lines of paradise lost book 1, i realized that this poem had something to do with christianity so it sparked my interest. However, it was not very easy to read. I was extremely shocked when i realized this poem planned to rewrite the holy bible. Milton tries to explain why bad things happen to good people through the story of. The poem starts with satan falling from heaven. Satan is aware that he is in hell and has lost everything yet still has hope. Satan claims that he will never submit to god"s authority and believes he is an unjust ruler. He also believes he can fight god because he is immortal however beelzebub, satan"s old friend, does not agree. Beelzebub tells satan they are only alive to endure god"s eternal punishment.
