Another strange relationship that is continues to develop in this section is between pip and. Pip is still very na ve to the true nature of estella. He some how believes she is clean and uncorrupted despite how rude she always is to him and how she was completely traumatized growing up in miss havisham"s house. Even the relatives who were jealous of estella"s claim on. Miss havisham"s money redirected their hatred to pip. Although i can not blame estella for enjoying this, it only seems she is capable of receiving joy from other people"s pain. Estella brings up the issue of nature versus nurture in her chapter 38 speech as she describes the effects of miss havisham"s upbringing. She raises the issue of how much permanent damage a bad childhood can cause for a person"s future. This can clearly relevant to pip"s life as well.
