In the final volume of great expectations, several interesting aspects of the story were explained and pip finally has to confront the truth. As pip comes fully into adulthood he is forced to come to terms with the fact that his life is completely different from what he has always believed and that things are not always as they seem. Pip learns two vital lessons by the end of the novel. The first is that social class is just a superficial standard of value. In the final volume we learn that estella"s mother is the unconvicted murderess molly (servant of jaggers) and her father is abel magwitch.
