Family registration system earned you stuff, depending on where you"re living. Poor rural villages can"t get social services and same rights as city folk. Work unit registration: rationing coupons and housing and health services. Mass organization: all china federation of women, of workers, of students 1950s economic progress: 1950-1952 land reform & owning land for 2 years. Chairman mao imposed a 5-year plan (1953-1957) for how much the industrialization should produce and it was very successful. Mao didn"t think giving all the peasants private tiny plots of land was good. Mutual aid teams (families of 8) worked together. 1956 farmers were in advanced apcs (collective farms) 25,000 of farmers. They all didn"t own the land, and they only had a wage. Mao disliked how the industrial sector are doing better than the farmers. 1956: mao called for a 100 flowers (schools of thought).
