Anxiety- associated with the anticipation of future problems; involves more general or diffuse emotional reactions; the emotional experience is out of proportion to the threat. Fear- fight or flight; this is experienced in immediate, real danger. Excessive worry- cognitive activity associated with anxiety; a relatively uncontrollable sequence of negative, emotional thoughts that are concerned with possible future threats or danger. Dsm-v approach to classifying disorders is based primarily on descriptive features, rather than etiological hypotheses. Panic attack (cued, unexpected)- recurrent, unexpected panic attacks. Feel dizzy, out of breath, vision gets blurry. At least one of the attacks must be followed by a period of of 1 month or more with persistent concerns about having additional attacks. Sudden overwhelming experience of terror or fright. More intense than anxiety and has a sudden onset. Cued- expected or occurring only in the presence of a particular stimulus.
