I used to work for a healthcare facility where they implemented cost-cutting measures. I worked as a student nurse on a progressive care unit. One way that this facility implemented cost-cutting measures was for employees to scan the supplies that they were using to a patient s room or floor. By doing this, it would let the staff know the quantity of supplies being used and where they were being used. However, the main way to cut their costs was not having adequate staff. For example, some days i would be the only tech and have 22 patients to myself. It was really stressful trying to be the best caregiver while attending the needs of 22 patients. I felt that i was not able to give the best care due to all of the other responsibilities of my other patients. As a result, the patient care experience was not as good as it should have been.
