The problem with vodafone was the it was a very decentralized company that lacked common practices, centralized operations, and data sharing among its" various companies. Most of their subsidiaries operated as independent companies. Vodafone is a network of these individual businesses but wanted to operate as a single global firm to be more prepared for competitive pressures. Management factors that contributed to the problem was the lack of some management functions and strategies to help the company grow further. The lack of expertise and resources to efficiently manage the evolution of sap was also a management factor that contributed to the problem. Operational factors that contributed to the problem are the lack of centralized operations and practices, not implying strategies for growth, and not having support from the ceo and managers. Technological factors that contributed to the problem are the large number of it employees and the unsuccessful it firm created to reduce costs and generate new business strategies.
