Never shift your focus from one eye to the other when you are in a close-up. Try not to blink blinking makes a character seem weak. Don"t make faces audience doesn"t want to be nudged into a reaction: they want to react spontaneously to what appears to be spontaneous. Rely on character"s thought processes & your face will behave normally. Don"t practice in a mirror the mirror is you & you want to be someone else. Ask what type of shot beforehand (camera won"t always physically move closer to or away from you) so that you know how to gauge the scale of the performance & what will be included in the frame. Medium shot cut size of action to half. Close-up shot cut size of action half of medium.
