(this is consistent with the collectivistic emphasis in indian culture on consideration of the well-being of others) In all traditional cultures, the transition to adulthood is clearly and explicitly marked by marriage. Cultures that value interdependence view marriage as the most important marker of entering adulthood because of the ways marriage confirms and strengthens interdependence. Immune system is strong and susceptibility to most infectious diseases is low.
