Document Summary
Culture is a way of life for a group of people. It"s a set of (cid:271)eliefs, traditions, and pra(cid:272)ti(cid:272)es. The concept of culture is always changing and has evolved and expanded throughout history. The oldest understanding of culture focuses on the distinction between: natural environment, things to do with humans. When we come into contact with other cultures, we think our culture is the best and kno(cid:449)s e(cid:448)erything and don"t (cid:449)ant anything to do (cid:449)ith any other culture. Ethnocentrism: judging other cultures based on superiority of own culture. Idea to seek to understand where each culture comes from and to not judge their differences. We belong to smaller groups within society known as subcultures. They have their own set of values, norms, and way of living. Values are beliefs like right and wrong. Socialization is how we learn the values and norms of our culture in order to fit in as a member of that society.
