Oliver wendell holmes- (was a law scholar, not a sociologist) there is a difference between law on the books and law in action : said law acts- law is a behavioral system, law is what people do. All institutions in society are inter-related; change in one causes change in other. Law as an institution (all societies change!) a macro look into law & society. Basically saying that societies change, an evolutionary outlook on sociology. When looking at our society in 2012, we see it looks nothing like 2k y/ago differentiation.
