Master-slave dialectic: most social relationships are based on the slave-master mode, will die out as society gains more free people over time. Functionalist: inequality is good: functions as a sorting mechanism; we pay people different things for different reasons. Con ict theorists: inequality limits people"s opportunities, not fair: believe its manufactured by elites who use their power to control social structure and further their own ways. Everyone is created equal in the eyes of god: equality of opportunity.
