They did this on purpose: proportions is important because not as many people are becoming deviants anymore, social control: we learn who becomes deviant and who does not. Something that stops you from not being deviant all the time: traditional views, absolutist/moral, medical: deviant people are sick, statistical: certain number of people are deviant by nature, some are not. Ex: police chief said something that wasn"t correct. If you make a noise after certain time then the police come: situation: you can"t kill anybody, but in a battlefield you can. You can kill somebody when you are defending yourself: status: men can expose breast and women cant, deviance is universal. There is no society of saints because deviance has a good thing.
