Document Summary

Life in the biosphere depends on photosynthesis by autotrophic organisms. Biosphere- where life exists on earth, places that support life. contains living organisms. 10000m above ground to 10000m below ground (20000m total) - atmosphere- important part of natural resource management on planet. Photosynthesis- plants able to create oxy, carbohydrate, etc parts of the earth system also include: --semi-aquatic plants- grow with roots submerged in water, but most of the plant out of water. --aquatic plants- completely underwater but still able to photosynthesize they are all very important in primary production in running the planet. Photosynthesis the rate of photosynthesis is dependent of few things: in terrestrial systems is primarily dependent on temperature, water availability, and nutrient concentrations. -ultisols- southeast, not best soils, clay like soil. Photosynthesis- in aquatic systems also depends on temperature and nutrient concentrations, but is also highly dependent on light, water does not transmit light very well. -turbidity- cloudy water, the biggest problem we have with water.
