The act was amended in 1977 to provide guidelines for protection of areas that had attained naaqs, and requirements for areas not attaining naaqs (like baton rouge and ozone). Pm-10, only moderate and serious classifications, with different requirements depending on the severity of the problem. Title ii establishes tighter pollution standards, and mandates improvement in fuel quality (e. g. , e85 gas) for nonattaining areas. Title iv: reductions in so2 emissions in two phases, 110 power plants by 1997, and 2,000 power plants by 1998.
