Science of human development: seeks to understand how and why people of all ages and circumstances change or remain the same over time. Pose a question: develop hypothesis, test hypothesis, analzye, report results. Replication: repetition of a study using different participants. Nature vs. nurture: how much of any characteristic, behavior, or emotion is the results of genes and how much is the result of experience. Nature: the traits, capacaties, and limitations each individual inherits genetically. Nurture: all environmental influences that affect development after an individual is concieved. The life-span perspective: this study of human development takes into account all phases of life, not just childhood or adulthood. State the age ranges from the following stages: Critical period: a particular type of development growth must happen at a specific time if it is ever going to happen. Sensitive period: a time when a certain type of development is most likely to happen, although it may happen later with more difficulty.
