Document Summary

In the bedroom, directed by todd field (2001) and based on andre dubus"s short story. Killings , was a heart-wrenching film about the murder of young frank fowler (nick stahl), an architecture student, and his parents matt (tom wilkinson) and ruth fowler"s (sissy spacek) desire to bring frank"s murderer, richard strout (william mapother), to justice. The main theme of this film is revenge, and the title is based on the small compartments in the lobster traps of camden, maine, called the bedroom. As the film progresses, viewers see what is and isn"t happening in the various couples" bedrooms. The bedroom is a part of the lobster trap that houses captured lobsters; however, when more than two male lobsters are in the bedroom, especially if there is a female present, they start to turn on each other. This same exact problem ignited the conflict(s) in the entire film.
