Document Summary
The stream metaphor approaches a notion that when we examine our subjective experience, we do not perceive discrete bits, we perceive interrelated conceptions, we are always moving in our mental lives and it is never static. It is something that is continuous and ever changing (1) described mind as something you could conceive of as stable states of consciousness . Stable states meaning our focusing temporarily, on some aspect of conscious life. If we wanted to we could really focus on what we had for breakfast and pay attention to that but while doing this other things are going on, consciousness is flowing around what we are contending to. It is a mistake to think mind is made up of pieces (2) transitive states: Primary characteristic; moving from one thing to the next continually, even in sleep: mind is never still, it is always in motion.
